29. March 2023Microplastics and Tire Wear
5. April 2023High-quality laboratory technology and accessories for our research for water without microplastics and micropollutants - the optimal partnership.
Research is an important part of the Wasser 3.0 DNA. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we research and develop responsible concepts and solutions to detect and remove microplastics and micropollutants from water and reuse the collected microplastics.
For this, maintaining high quality standards in all areas plays a very important role. Equipping our own research laboratory at the wastewater treatment plant in Landau - our Service Lab - with correspondingly high-quality equipment, including the associated laboratory accessories, is therefore of great importance to us in our work for water free of microplastics and micropollutants.
Why go far afield when you can find good partners right at your doorstep?
Carl Roth GmbH + Co KG, a laboratory chemicals wholesaler based in Karlsruhe, is our supplier for all the laboratory equipment and accessories we need. For over 140 years, Carl Roth has been providing expert advice and high-quality products for laboratory supplies, life science, and chemicals. With more than 30,000 available items that can be ordered via its own online store and a 24-hour delivery service within Germany, the company is a reliable partner for laboratories in research, science, and technology. In addition, Carl Roth develops new, forward-looking Roth proprietary products based on research projects and cooperations, thus creating a decisive basis for research and analytics. Additional services such as a pipette and dispenser calibration service round off the wholesaler's overall offering.
The best gifts are the unexpected ones - thank you Carl Roth
Carl Roth GmbH + Co. KG organizes an Advent calendar quiz every year and donates one euro for each quiz question answered. In our opinion, this is a very successful campaign that raises a considerable sum for a good cause year after year. The collected donation amount from the quiz campaign does not go to a social institution, but to charitable projects that have a positive impact on the community.
"The entire Wasser 3.0 team was very happy about the unexpected Christmas gift from our delivery partner Carl Roth," said Wasser 3.0 founder and CEO Katrin Schuhen, "because the proceeds from the Advent Calendar 2022 quiz campaign went to Wasser 3.0 and our work for water without microplastics and micropollutants. For this we say thank you very much and this is additional motivation in our daily business.
Financial support for Wasser 3.0’s Everyday Research - Laundry and Sports.
How much microplastic enters the environment through everyday processes and what exactly we can do about it are questions we are addressing as part of our research and education projects on water without microplastics and micropollutants. Since microplastic particles have already been detected all over the world, this is no longer an abstract issue that seems far away, but one that we encounter in many situations in our everyday lives. With our research work and our international exchange, we have proven that microplastic is a global challenge that involves all actors. For us, "Together for water without microplastics and micropollutants" is what counts.
Thanks to sponsors and donations - like the "Christmas present in summer" from Carl Roth - we were able to start two more research projects. The first research project deals with the core question of how much microplastic is produced from washing clothes.
In a second research project, we are investigating how much microplastic is released into the environment from functional clothing during sports activities. Currently, the quantities of microplastics released during washing or sports activities are currently only estimated worldwide and derived from a small number of data sets.
We want to change this and will therefore investigate the amount of microplastic entering the wastewater from textiles, the impacts of a retrofit filter in the washing machine, and what exactly is released in this context of microplastic when we do sports, over a period of 12 months. As usual, we will publish our research results open-access and also explain them in an understandable way via our blog.
Once again, we would like to thank André Houdelet and Thorsten Wagner from Carl Roth GmbH + Co. KG for their financial support.
