Rebellin des Wassers (Rebel of the water): How we save our most precious food

A non-fiction book by Katrin Schuhen. With a foreword by Boris Herrmann and many solutions for more water without microplastics (German first edition).

A look inside the book

Water is the topic of the moment. Even if we still see the issue of climate change at the top of the priority list for action. But one thing is clear: without water, life cannot develop: Without clean water, we humans cannot live, we cannot survive. Scientific evidence already shows that the processes of change associated with water are very strong, including the core problems of water scarcity, water availability and water pollution. However, it is still the case that scientific publications often only reach the scientific community.

Although the media messages make it to the kitchen table with bold headlines, they often leave us - as normal readers - with many question marks. The reports usually fail to provide answers as to how we should deal with the challenges. Among them: How can I help to protect the water? How can I protect myself and my family from contaminated water? What solutions are available, especially in pollutant hotspots such as our sewage treatment plants? Katrin Schuhen's book addresses precisely these questions.

The book focuses on solutions and is therefore encouraging. Courage that we - in politics, business and as private individuals - can overcome the threats with courageous action.

The book also contains innovations: The growing bibliography

In general, a non-fiction book such as Rebellin des Wassers (Rebel of Water) provides you with an up-to-date description of the current situation.

The subject of water is in a permanent state of flux and is always subject to processes of change. The questions are only gradually realized, the answers are delivered with further delays. Some things change, some things stay the same.

In order to keep the area of water without microplastics, which is omnipresent in research and education in Wasser 3.0, up to date in this book, we are giving book buyers access to a growing list of sources and direct access to our latest blog posts.

We are thus launching another real-digital transfer project (the other is our WASoMI training platform). Right in the middle of current events. 100% funded by donations.

Microplastic Analytics: EU plans are not enough

With the revised EU Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, many wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) will finally be required to monitor microplastic levels – but only twice per year for those serving > 150,000 population equivalents (p.e.) and only once per year for WWTPs with >10,000 p.e. The question remains – is this sufficient? The answer: NO! How do we know this?
