and the first person to fly around the world in a balloon and in a solar airplane - the project name of the latter adventure: Solar Impulse.When I was flying around the world in my solar airplane, I remember looking at the sun that was running my 4 electric motors and their huge propellers. There was no noise, no pollution, no fuel... and I could fly forever. At a certain moment I thought ‘this is science fiction, I’m in the future.’ And then I realized, ‘no, it’s wrong, I’m in the present; this is what the technologies of today already allow me to do. It’s the rest of the world that is in the past, with old and inefficient devices.

The Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label is the first label to evaluate the economic profitabilty of products or processes that protect the environment. It is awarded after a rigorous selection process by external, independent experts. By ensuring high standards of sustainability and profitability, this internationally recognized label is considered a great recognition for innovators and a credible quality criterion for solution seekers in companies and governments.
Bertrand Piccard and the Solar Impulse Foundation actively promote the labeled solutions to the media, the public and decision-makers to highlight the benefits of clean and profitable solutions. The goal is #1000SOLUTIONS. In Bertrand Piccard´s words again:

2021 starts turbulent and incredibly great! First, the Global Innovation Award and just days later the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label for Wasser 3.0 PE-X®. There are more highlights coming up in the next few weeks, and many exciting projects to report on here.
But before we are going to continue to work flat out on the challenges we face, we now celebrate a bit (purely virtually, of course) and enjoy the moment!
